High West Retreats is a collection of thoughtfully designed mountain properties rooted in Western Colorado and created around the idea that the places we stay should help us slow down, recover, and reconnect.
I’m Dave Rasmussen, founder and owner of High West Retreats. The idea behind the brand grew in part from many years spent training and racing as an endurance athlete. That experience gave me an appreciation for recovery and for how much our surroundings can influence the way we rest and recharge. Racing throughout Europe also gave me the chance to experience a variety of spas and recovery traditions, which helped inspire the wellness focus behind the properties.
My background in architecture and woodworking gave me the skills to bring those ideas to life. I’ve been closely involved in the design, renovation, and development of each property, with an emphasis on natural materials, thoughtful details, quiet comfort, and a strong connection to place.
Each High West property has its own character, but they share the same approach: spaces that feel considered, restorative, and connected to the surrounding landscape.
High West Retreats is intentionally personal. I remain closely involved with the properties and guest experience, working with a small local team to make every stay feel comfortable, well cared for, and distinctly connected to the Mountain West.
